Step by step configure RAID in HP ProLiant Server

RAID works by placing data on multiple disks and allowing I / O operations to interfere in a balanced manner, improving performance. Because the use of multiple disks increases the average time between failures (MTBF), frequent data storage also increases fault tolerance. RAID is a technology used to increase the performance and / or reliability of data storage. Shortcut stands for duplicate matrix of inexpensive disks. A RAID system consists of two or more parallel drives. ... RAID 1 - Mirroring.

HPE Smart Storage Administrator is a tool that allows you to quickly create and manage storage controllers on HPE Proliant servers. HPE SSA provides a simple, intuitive, and easy-to-use GUI for creating, modifying, and erasing storage arrays based on the physical drives installed on the server. HPE SSA replaces the HPE Array Configuration Utility (ACU) and has an updated design for HPE ProLiant servers that enhance the storage experience.

In this short tutorial, we'll create one of the simplest storage arrays, RAID 1 based on two physical drives. RAID 1 (mirroring) provides replication on all physical drives by writing data to all of them at the same time, allowing us to withstand N-1 drive errors where N is the number of physical drives used.
The procedure for setting up RAID 1 on an HPE Proliant Gen9 server using the HPE Smart Storage Administrator is very clear:

Launching ACU with HP Intelligent Provisioning (Gen8 or later)
1) Boot the server.
2) Press F10 to launch HP Intelligent Provisioning.
3) At the main screen, select Perform Maintenance.
4) At the Maintenance screen, select Array Configuration    Utility (ACU). The system launches the ACU GU
You have to wait here on this scree it may take time for initialize the networking, before launch HP Intelligent Provisioning make sure network is cable connected into you Server

Click on drop down button and select customizing and click continue

If you are configuring RAID on brand new Server so no need to clear configuration of HDD but here I am using old HDD which has already configured witch different RAID so first we need to clear configuration
Click on clear configuration for clear the current  HDD configuration
Click on clear and then Finish

Finlay I have clear existing configuration on HDD now I need to create new Array
On HPE SSA main screen click on array controller and the create new array
Since I have only two physical drives installed on the server, which is the minimum required for RAID 1 configuration, I have to select all the disks available to create RAID 1 array and the click create array

In RAID level section ensure that RAID 1 has been chosen, you can leave the remaining parameters in their default values and then Create Logical Drive button to create RAID 1 array
Check summary screen to verify newly created array and click on Finish button
The new array should now appear in the left pane of the main HPE SSA window
Here I have to close application click OK and restart Server for install OS
 1) Press F10 to launch HP Intelligent Provisioning.
2) At the main screen, select Perform Maintenance.
3) At the Maintenance screen, select Array Configuration    Utility (ACU). The system launches the ACU GU
At below screen you have to select default setting (Keep current setting) and then click continue
Select OS Family (Microsoft)  and source media (Windows Installation media file) here i am using bootable usb pen drive so I have selected USB Key
Select IR5-SSS-X64FRE_EN-US_DV9 and click on validate
After click on validation click continue
At the below screen select appropriate Server version
Select OS language, OS Keyword, Computer name and password and click continue
This is just warning message that if you click continue all data will be lost from HDD just ignore it and click continue
Now OS installing process is continue
Please accept term and condition and click Next
Processing OS installation, you have to wait........

After some time you can see login Screen
